National Stalking Awareness Month
January 1 – January 31 CST
National Stalking Awareness Month, observed in January, is a time to increase awareness of stalking, and to spur advocacy on behalf of those suffering with the emotional, financial and physical burden of being stalked.
National Stalking Awareness Month is an annual call to action to recognize and respond to the serious crime of stalking. It is critical to raise the issue of stalking as its own form of gender-based violence as well as a crime that frequently predicts and co-occurs with physical and sexual violence. While legal definitions of stalking vary from one jurisdiction to another, a good working definition of stalking is a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear.#personalizedcause
