Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day
Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, observed on October 13, has been set aside as a day for educating people about metastatic breast cancer.
Metastatic breast cancer is breast cancer that has spread to other body parts away from the breasts. The cancer cells move to other organs through the process of metastasis. The cancer cells start to affect these areas. Areas that are likely to be affected include bones, lungs and the liver. Despite it affecting lungs, for example, it is still referred to as breast cancer.
